Welcoming Our First Youtube Video:
If you’re like us, you probably use YouTube as a main source of entertainment. We’ve just released our first YouTube video, and we want to thank our audience for their support! This video is a great accompaniment to our blog post, and we think you’ll enjoy it. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below! Thanks again for being part of our community. 🙂
You do not ever use Karate as a weapon! Karate is to help keep you safe. If someone is trying to hurt you, do not ever use Karate to injure someone. That’s not what Karate is about.
Videos about our very first tournament that we did in February at Fort Pierce, Florida.
I placed Second in Kata and third in Sparring, But overall She and I had so much fun being with our team from our dojo. We wanted to do a short vlog and what you can expect from a karate tournament.
We will have one from the second tournament we will be going to in April. But for now, here’s what we saw.
There were over thirty dojos, and we even knew some people there. We didn’t go up until 10:30, so we sat on the bleachers until we had to get into our Gi (Karate uniform).
We practiced what we had to do beforehand as we waited to go up, and then we went up. I did the second Kata called Heian Shodan, and If you don’t know what that one is, We will have a video out soon to show you how to learn that Kata.
Abby did Heian Nidan, which is the third Kata in Shotokan karate. These katas and other katas are fighting with an imaginary person. When you watch us make the moves, it looks like we are punching (or kicking) someone; that’s precisely what we are doing.
Now in Sparring, it’s a bit different. You are kicking and punching a real person in front of you, You wear protection in this one, and sometimes you can get hurt, but that’s part of Karate too.
We will also have a video talking about what Sparring is and how to learn to spar. And yes, just like any sports event. They are rules. So you saw what I said. “You do wear protection.” So let me list what you must buy before attending your first tournament.
Every dojo is different! That’s a big thing to know; they may have tracksuits to buy, they might not, and that’s okay either way. We had tracksuits that were nice to wear, plus your showing people as you walked by what your dojo’s name was. Ours Is Shotokan Karate of Florida or SKF.
Now on to the video!

How lovely to see the first video on Youtube of you and your sister at a karate tournament, have you two been doing this for a long time and does it take a lot of practice to get to a certain level to be able to compete in the competition? I’m looking forward very much to more videos in the future, good luck!
Ahhh! Thank you for the comment. You’re lovely. Abby and I have been in Karate for three years now, and we love it oh so much!
Yes, it takes a lot of work and time to get ready to compete. We have been training for three months now, and we both do four classes a week; it takes a lot of commitment time to get to where you want to be.
We went as white belts because it was our first tournament. But a note for you. We talked to our teacher about what level he thought we should go to. In April we will also be going as white belts.
It’s a long answer to your questions but I try to explain things like this long so you would understand what I mean.
Thank you for reading, we will have more things up on both our Youtube and the website. Stop by soon.
